If your kids are itching for some summer adventure, Northwest Children’s Theater has you covered. The fan-favorite original comedy Robin Hood swings into town for a limited run, July 18 through August 2 at The Judy in downtown Portland.

This isn’t a quiet, by-the-book retelling. Think over-the-top heists, quick-witted banter, tumbling stunts, and sword fights galore, all wrapped up in a fast-paced comedy that pokes gentle fun at the classic tale. Kids will cheer on Robin, Maid Marian, and their merry band as they outwit the blustering Sheriff of Nottingham and the deliciously wicked Prince John.

This year’s production carries some extra significance: it’s the fourth annual NWCT Alumni Show, a tradition where former NWCT students, now college-aged and beyond, return from across the country to take part both on stage and behind the scenes.

Directing this go-round is NWCT Managing Director Nick Fenster, who has deep roots with the company. He started taking classes at NWCT back in 1993, the year the theater was founded, and counts this show among his favorite original works to come out of NWCT.

Taking on the title role is Henry Martin, a familiar face to NWCT audiences who most recently played Pete in the theater’s two-time sold-out run of Pete the Cat. Stepping into the role of Maid Marian is Tia Lempert, marking her second NWCT Alumni Show and fifth Mainstage production overall.
