Mount Hood offers an incredible environment for children’s ski lessons, with several places dedicated to making learning fun and safe. Here’s what you can expect when you choose Mount Hood for your child’s skiing adventure.

Timberline Lodge

Timberline Lodge is renowned for its comprehensive ski lessons for kids of all ages and skill levels. They have a dedicated children’s ski school staffed by experienced instructors who know how to engage young learners.

Timberline Kids Club

  • Ages: 4 – 12
  • Levels: 1 – 3
  • This program provides half-day or full-day lessons tailored for beginners. The dedicated staff ensures a safe and fun learning experience, with supervision from check-in to check-out.

Mountain Masters

  • Ages: 7 – 12
  • Levels: 4 – 6
  • This multi-week program is designed for kids with more advanced skiing and snowboarding skills.

Summit Pass Group Lessons

  • Ages: 4+
  • Levels: 1 & 2
  • Available at the Summit Pass in Government Camp, these lessons utilize Heidi’s Conveyor, a 200-foot covered conveyor, to make learning even easier for beginners. Group lessons are offered on weekends and holidays, snow permitting.

Timberline Group Lessons

  • Ages: 13+
  • Levels: 1 – 3
  • These lessons are available Fridays through Sundays and during holiday periods. They include a 2-hour group lesson, full-day equipment rental, and a learning area lift ticket.

Private Lessons

  • All Ages & Levels
  • Personalized instruction tailored to individual goals, perfect for families wanting a more customized approach.

Mt. Hood Meadows

Mt. Hood Meadows is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, providing lessons focused on fun and safety for younger skiers.

Youth Lessons

  • Beginner Special: Offered during Bonus Weekends.
  • Toyota Night Beginner Lessons: These take place under the lights on Fridays, Saturdays, and holiday nights at 5:30 PM.
  • Parent & Me Lessons: Designed for children ages 3 to 6, this parent-assisted lesson is perfect for young ones.

Consecutive Week Programs

  • Four-week programs for 1st graders through adults.

Cooper Spur Ski Area

This smaller resort is ideal for beginners, offering both group and private lessons for children.

  • Private Lesson: $115 for a one-hour lesson (all ages & abilities).
  • Group Lesson: $89 for a two-hour lesson (beginners only).

Mt. Hood Skibowl

At Skibowl, beginner lessons are structured to make the first experience on the slopes enjoyable and rewarding.
