Moms are the best. Celebrating them on Mother’s Day is very important, but it’s also hard to fully show how much you love and appreciate them in a single day. How could I, and the kids, ever convey to my wife how grateful we are for her with a gift or a fun activity? It cannot be done, but it doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t at least try.
When I am away at work, it’s my wife who stays home with our two young children, caring for their daily needs while also being an incredible homemaker. She pours her entire heart into our marriage, our home, and our children. Getting her something like a nice necklace or sending her out for a spa day is a nice, needed gesture. But quite frankly, a nice gift doesn’t come close to everything that she does for our family.
Moms are amazing, and even though one day of celebrations doesn’t adequately do justice for all that they do for us, we should still make the day special for them.
Pal’s is a fantastic restaurant located on Hayden Island that is hosting a delicious Mother’s Day brunch. This fun event is in collaboration with renowned Chef Greg Mitchell of the Palace Diner in Biddeford, Maine. You don’t want to pass up this opportunity to celebrate your mom in this amazing way.
Pal’s is a unique restaurant that is part fish shack, part coffee bar, and so much more.
In the warmer season, they offer outdoor seating at picnic tables, and you always have the option of dining inside. Their property has walking trails for a nice pre- or post-meal stroll, and outdoor fire pits to sit around and further enjoy everyone’s company. There is even a play area for the kids, which is a nice plus when going out to eat with the little ones. I am also happy to report that Pal’s has a ton of spacious parking, so you won’t have to worry about circling for 20 minutes looking for an open spot.
For the Mother’s Day Brunch collaboration, reservations are available for Saturday, May 9th, and Sunday, May 10th, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The brunch is inspired by Chef Greg Mitchell’s Maine restaurant, Palace Diner. While the Mother’s Day brunch menu is keeping its cards close to the vest, the Palace Diner’s menu gives us confidence that it will be delicious.
The Palace Diner itself has menu items such as Challah French toast and a Palais Royale with French Fries. The classic menu items are finely tuned, turning what would otherwise be a relatively ordinary dish into something extraordinary. Getting a reservation for the Pal’s Mother’s Day Brunch is a perfect way to celebrate the mom in your life. This also works as a great just-for-moms outing for those who may want to celebrate here with their friends.
If you can’t make it to this limited brunch, try to make some time to come out to Pal’s on another day. Their menu includes items such as the Avocado Deluxe Sandwich and the Legendary Fish & Chips Sandwich. They also have a kids’ menu with items such as Grilled Cheese and their classic Butter Noodles. Their drink menu is also fantastic. For adults who want something with an ABV, their Slightly Negroni is very tasty. And for those not wanting alcohol, their Strawberry Arnold Palmer and Cucumber Mint Lemonade is memorable in the best way.
Pal’s also hosts a ton of events, such as Wine on the Deck, a $ 65-per-person meal that pairs dishes like Anchovies & Roast Potatoes with local Oregon wines.
Pal’s is an amazing spot to chill out and relax with a nice family meal while you watch the boats sail along the Tomahawk Bay Marina.
Mother’s Day is the celebration of motherhood and the extraordinary women who make it so. It is celebrated around the world, usually in the spring, and its modern version has been held for well over 100 years. In fact, the first modern-day version of it was celebrated in West Virginia in 1908. As other nations have adopted this celebration, it is sometimes incorporated with other religious, historical, and even legendary references.
Here in the United States, Mother’s Day is one of the biggest days for flowers and greeting card purchases, as well as for dining out and making long-distance phone calls.
Mothers are an essential part of society’s fabric, and they deserve to be celebrated. While there is no gift or outing that comes close to all that they do for us, as the old saying goes, it’s the thought that counts. Let’s make the mothers in our lives know they are loved and appreciated, whether it is through a bouquet of pretty flowers, a day at the spa, or a lovely brunch at the marina.
