Are you looking for one of the best things to do with your family during the long summer months in Oregon? Well, look no further than the quirky, unique Enchanted Forest Theme Park in Salem.

This enchanted fairytale land is a family-run business that has been open since 1971, all thanks to the creator Roger Tofte, who still helps run the park to this day – in his late 80s!

The park has grown from a small backyard project to an entire fun-filled land featuring fabulous rides, highly-crafted attractions, and action-packed entertainment – all suitable for the whole family.

Struggling through a worldwide pandemic and weather-related destruction, the park has survived thanks to the love of visitors who come time and time again to enjoy fun and laughter that has entertained thousands for over 50 years.

If you aren’t convinced, keep reading to discover the top five reasons you should spend a day at the Enchanted Forest Theme Park with your family.

Fun for all ages

The Enchanted Park has a variety of rides and attractions for everyone to enjoy – from the Tiny Tune Train and the Kiddy Frog Hopper to the Haunted House and the Challenge of Mondor ride – there is something for all ages.

Little ones will love exploring storybook lane, which features interactive designs such as Alice and Wonderland’s rabbit hole, which you can crawl down, as well as plenty more fairytale creations.

In Tofteville Western Town, the kids will love trying to pan for gold and show their skills in the shooting gallery. Home to some of the bigger rides, such as The Big Timber Log Ride and the Haunted House – this area is perfect for older kids and adults!

The whole family will love the Fantasy Fountains Water-light Show. Created by the daughter of the park creator Roger, this dazzling show will entertain all ages with its spectacular display of lights, water, and music.

If you are feeling peckish, there are plenty of food options available throughout the park serving a variety of food such as pizza, ice cream, and lots of other delicious snacks. For some entertainment, while you eat, head to the Possibly Irish pub to enjoy lunch with some Irish dance and music.

Face painting is also available for all ages – let little ones choose their favorite fairytale character or woodland creature!

Affordable family day out

With discounted tickets for seniors and kids ages 3-12 and free admission to those under 2s – the park is the perfect affordable family day out that offers something for everyone.

Picnics are allowed

Although plenty of restaurants and food options are available inside the park, the Enchanted Forest has many picnic areas and actively encourages guests to bring their own picnics to enjoy.

If you want to keep costs down, this is a great way to make it an even more affordable day out, especially if you plan to spend the whole day here. Pack up your favorite lunch and find the perfect spot to tuck in and refuel!

Introduce little ones to the classic fairytales

Fairytales and nursery rhymes are some of the best stories to introduce to your little ones, and the park has plenty of creative rides and attractions which tell these beloved stories in a fun and unique way.

Storybook Lane is the first part of the park to have been created and showcases many wonderful stories, such as Alice in Wonderland, Humpty Dumpty, the Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe, Hansel and Gretel, and many more.

Kids of all ages will love exploring this area, whether discovering these stories for the first time or revisiting the classic tales from their younger years.

There is plenty to keep kids entertained

It can be tough to keep children entertained for long, especially during those endless summer holiday days when you’re likely to hear the words “I’m bored” more often than you would like to, but at the Enchanted Forest, you’ll be sure to find plenty of things to do keep kids entertained all day long.

Spend the morning exploring Storybook Lane, Tofteville Western Town, and the Old European Village; search for those thrills riding as many rides as you can in the afternoon; refuel in one of the many picnic spots; grab a snack after the Fantasy Fountains Water-light show and don’t forget to choose a face painting character!

There is so much to do to keep all ages entertained at the Enchanted Forest, and you’ll be sure to walk away with tired legs, happy hearts, and lots of wonderful memories.
