I would guess that many families with kids have been doing a variety of art projects at home these days. Our family has been doing a ton of coloring, painting, “Play-doh”, slime, and clay sculpting. I worry for the small, art supply businesses in Oregon during this unusual time of COVID-19. I realize that we can go to big stores like Target or Fred Meyer to grab art supplies: but these small businesses would likely really appreciate the support. Here are ten local companies that are currently offering alternative pick-up methods and/or online delivery, and the stores’ links.

  1. Blick Art Materials” – Curbside pick-up.
  2. Collage” Art supplies- This store has three location that are all offering pick-up at their stores when you order supplies online. Collage has three stores in Portland.
  3. Crafty Wonderland”- Online shopping available.
  4. Simply Special Crafts”- Online shopping available.
  5. Craft Warehouse”- Curbside pickup through phone orders, and online shopping available. This store has 4 locations in Oregon: Beaverton, Gresham, Medford, and Salem
  6. Artist and Craftsman Supply”- Online shopping available.
  7. I’ve Been Framed” art supplies- Curbside pickup and online shopping available.
  8. Spark Arts Center”- Curbside pickup and/or home delivery.
  9. Georgie’s Ceramic and Clay Company”- Curbside pickup and/or shipping.
  10. Lakeshore Learning Store”- Curbside pickup.

These stores vary in the range of their product: but what they have in common is that they are all Oregon-based, small businesses. Large companies have the advantage of mass advertising on TV, billboards, and radio. These small businesses largely rely on their existing customer base, and recommendations by their current customers to others to sustain and grow their business. So, the next time you need paint, paper, or fun art supplies: consider these awesome, local, stores and their hard-working employees.
