Do you feel that? Winter is coming to an end, and it’s time to shift gears and prepare for the spring. Cities blossom as the dogwood trees and magnolias bloom all over, allowing visitors and locals to get outside and explore the beauty nature offers. There are plenty of fun kid-friendly things to do in Oregon in the spring, from taking beautiful forest hikes to visiting interactive children’s museums and going on wildlife safari rides. Can’t decide where to start? Here are four of our favorite family-friendly spots to help kickstart your spring!
Portland Japanese Garden
The Portland Japanese Garden is among the best places to take a winter hike with your family around Portland. The garden offers over five acres of streams and walkways, as well as a fantastic view of Mount Hood. Strap on your shoes and take the young ones along as you walk through the trails rich with plant life.
Wildlife Safari
Want to explore wildlife from a distance? Take a drive through Wildlife Safari, a nonprofit park that hosts over 500 species. You can view it from the comfort of your car along a four-mile journey around the park. Wildlife Safari also offers petting zoos and educational resources for you and your family!
Treehouse Ziplines
Step out of your comfort zone as you zip over southern Oregon! Open year-round, Treehouse Ziplines is a thrilling experience that offers 10 zip lines and a mile of cable among the trees. There are many courses ranging from beginner to advanced. If you’re looking for a challenge, be sure to check out their new hybrid course, the Outback Adventure, designed for a hike and zip at the same time!
Enchanted Forest
Allow your child’s imagination and creativity to run wild at Enchanted Forest. Just an hour south of Portland, near Salem, this theme park is a children’s book brought to life with hand-built fairy tale figurines, leafy paths, and larger-than-life mushrooms. Make sure to stroll down Storybook Lane to visit Humpty Dumpty before his great fall.
There’s nothing better than making memories and spending a fun day with your family, and Oregon has so many exciting family-friendly experiences and attractions to do in the spring. You can have an exciting zipline day or take a relaxing stroll through the Japanese Garden. Either way, you’ll have a wonderful time with your young ones at these attractions.
