New Year’s is right around the corner, and we all know what that means, right? It’s time to party! Whether you want to attend a party with your kids or by yourselves as a couple, we’ve got the party for you!
Who doesn’t want to roll into the New Year? This is an excellent activity for families, but you must sign a waiver for your child. The event will go from 7-1 in the morning. Skating costs only $24, but you can skate and have champagne for $5 more. It’s an all-ages skating party, so it’s great for families and friends. If you don’t want to skate and you want to watch, you will need a spectator ticket.
Non-alcoholic drinks are also available for those who don’t want to drink. You’ll have to pay a parking fee at the on-site kiosks, and it’s only a card, so be prepared for that.
The Mittleman Jewish Community Center (located at the Schnitzer Family Campus) offers a free community event. They will ring in the New Year at noon, and the event goes from 11-12.30. During this time, there will be various fun activities for your family, including a bouncy house, games, arts and crafts, and snacks. There is also going to be dancing and a beach ball drop. This is an excellent event for your kids to have fun and meet new friends while having fun!
37th Annual New Year’s Eve Sobriety Powwow
Considered to be one of Portland’s biggest New Year’s Parties, it will be alcohol-free, but there is plenty of fun to be had here. Thousands of people attend this event, and it’s a great way to close out the year with dancing, songs, and drums. It’s a free event that is great for families of all ages and goes from 1 PM to midnight.
While service dogs are allowed (if certified), no other animals are permitted. You’ll find cultural dancers and youth activities here that provide an innovative experience. While there is little information on the event, it offers a full day of fun and immerses you in an experience that will stay with you.
Gilbert House Children’s Museum’s Party
So this one is if you have children and don’t want them staying up all night. Instead of dropping the ball at midnight, there is a balloon party at noon. If you’re a member, the price is $10. If not, it is $24. However, this price includes museum admission for the entire day. The balloon party, however, is from 10-1. They have fun crafts for kids, special activities, and complimentary hot chocolate. Their social media offers ticket links and recommends booking them as soon as possible because this event sells out quickly due to popular demand.
For kids ten and under, from 11-2 PM, you can see live music and take your picture in a photo booth. The acts include the Youth Music Project and Idris Goodwin. There is a ball drop and interactive screens to add to the fun. The prices range from $15 to $20, with $20 being the standard and the lower price for youth. The tickets will have a fee attached.
While this event may not be as well-known as the others on this list, it’s guaranteed an afternoon of fun for families!
The Milwaukie Farmer’s Market is a fantastic event for families. It’s a free outdoor event that is family-friendly and for all ages. There will be live music, vendors, food, and a mead and beer garden for adults. They also have a 7-foot sculpture that gets lowered by a crane at 9 PM.
The sculpture is a giant Bing cherry that was cultivated in Milwaukie, Oregon, in 1875. The name comes from a nursery foreman named Ah Bing. By coming to this event, you’ll celebrate a wonderful history and learn a new story!
The best part of this event is the lovely Chinese cultural performances, which are unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Be sure to bundle up because you won’t want to miss a second of this event!
