Traveling with children can be difficult. There can be layovers and long lines, and if your children get hungry, finding the best place to eat can be challenging. While there are multiple places you can enjoy with your family, such as the theater, live music areas, play areas, or art exhibits, these are the best restaurants to eat to have some great family time while enjoying the sights and sounds of PDX.
Note that with current construction, you cannot walk between Concourses B and C with Concourses D and E. Once construction is completed, you will be able to walk to all of the concourses.
Cafe Yumm! [Concourse C]
Cafe Yumm is an excellent place for kids because it has organic bowls full of nutrition and great taste. The original has special sauce, beans, and cheese with organic rice. It’s absolutely amazing. However, I’d personally recommend the AvoKiddo bowl. It’s got Jasmine rice and fresh avocado. Their teriyaki bowl is another excellent choice because it’s tasty and filling. Remember to try the chocolate-dipped cookies for dessert!
Tillamook [Concourse E]
Tillamook doesn’t have a specific menu for children, but it makes the list because they have many things on the menu that kids would love. They offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizers and dessert. They have delicious breakfasts that are enough for sharing or for someone with a big appetite. I’d recommend grilled cheese for lunch, which they have multiple versions of, or hotdogs. However, if you’re feeling brave, try the double bacon cheeseburger (they’re huge)! Tillamook has pasta with sourdough pretzel toppings, cheese curds, and ice cream.
Burgerville [Concourse D]
Burgerville deserves a spot on this list because they make excellent, you guessed it, burgers! The best part? They have plant-based options with vegan cheese! If you’ve got a big appetite, take on the colossal burger, but if you’re looking for something with a kick, try the hot pepper crispy chicken sandwich. It’s got three different peppers, and it will be worth the sting. Your children will love the sundae options and chicken tenders, but they can enjoy so much more, too. I’d recommend the Alaskan Halibut fish and chips for the little ones. Be sure to get a side of the donut poppers as well. The cinnamon sugar and lemon poppy seed is so yummy!
Cha Cha Cha [Concourse D]
A menu that’s as cool as the name, this place has some good eats. Your children have choices from tacos, quesadillas, nachos, enchiladas, and more. You have vegan and gluten-free options, and they have delicious ingredients. It’s a beautiful place to get some good food. For parents, you have an abundance of choices, from carne asada tortas to mole poblano. I’d recommend the house burrito for adults and the taco combo for little ones. If you get the enchiladas, they are covered in sauce, so you might have to clean your child up a little later.
Evergreens [Concourse E]
If you’re looking for something more healthy, try Evergreens. They make bowls that offer you the chance to make a rice bowl, salad bowl, or wrap. Once you pick your base item, you can choose toppings, proteins, dressing, finishing, and premium items. It’s a great thing for kids because they can be in charge of what they want and what they don’t, which can be nice for them to make their own choices. The ingredients are also varied and fresh, so you know you will be doing something good for your body. It’s also fun to get creative with the ingredients. They have cilantro lime dressing, hummus, yuzu sauce, curry, and chermoula.
Elephants Deli [Ticket Lobby]
This one makes the list because the food is not only delicious but also filling. There are a lot of things to choose from, which can be helpful if you have picky eaters or a child with other needs and things they can’t eat. They offer a varied menu with veggie options for non-meat eaters. If you’re going for breakfast, I’d recommend the breakfast sandwiches or the burrito, as they are all tasty.
For an entree, they have great pasta that is so cheesy, making it an excellent option for younger people. However, they also have turkey sandwiches, tuna, and many healthy options like chickpea sandwiches with incredible flavor. I’d also recommend checking out their sides. They have vegetables, cheese, fruit, and other options that can be great for later on or for someone who may be less hungry. Take advantage of dessert, too. Their pastries and breads are delicious!
Lots Of Options To Enjoy
The airport has exciting restaurants you can check out with your family, but if you want to stick with fast food, there are McDonald’s [Concourse C] and other places to get you in and out quickly. Whatever you choose, you’re going to have a great family meal!
