Have you ever been rock climbing? If not, you probably haven’t taken your little ones, and that’s a shame. Rock climbing helps children learn physical and mental strength, trust, and confidence, is a great hobby for critical thinking, and helps them gain problem-solving skills. It also gives them hand-eye coordination and is a way to stave off boredom. It’s a win-win! So, let’s climb some walls and have fun!

The Circuit Bouldering Gym

The Circuit has classes for various ages, and they offer age-appropriate instruction. They focus on techniques, problem-solving, and strength. Your children will learn how to climb in a fun environment, and they will give you regular progress reports so you know what’s going on. You can make reservations for the weekends and no school days, but you’ll need to apply if you want to join the after-school club. For groups, you’ll need to book two weeks in advance. They also have summer and winter camps that you can enjoy and offer birthday party options.

Parents have appreciated that the staff is engaging, and the progress reports have helped because they can see how their child is improving and offer encouragement.

Stoneworks Climbing Gym

Stoneworks are family-friendly and designed to give you a sense of community. Not only do they offer lessons, but they also have options for programs that are designed to engage your children. In addition to that, they have climbing teams for kids and teenagers. Like other gyms, they have many summer camps for families. Lessons with instructors and classes are available, and you can also choose to have birthday parties here. It will be $165 for ten climbers and an $80 non-fundable fee. You can bring in more climbers if you need to, but you’ll have to pay an additional fee.

The Nest Playground

Nest Playground is an area where children can learn through enriching classes, and they offer rock climbing walls. You can have private parties, birthdays, and events. You can also utilize the drop-in-play option. It’s $12 per child. You’ll need to wear socks (grips on the bottom of the socks are preferred), and they ask that you be respectful of others. The Nest is known for being a fun and inventive place for kids to learn how to climb. It’s also an excellent place to go at your own pace.

Source Climbing Center

Everyone is welcome here. When bringing your little ones, you can climb with a ten-day pass or membership, and you’ll have to sign an agreement for children under eighteen. There is also an orientation for first-time visitors. Each child under fourteen must always have an adult present and supervision. It’s recommended to start at four years old and no younger because bringing younger children into the facility is not safe. There are classes and camps you can take, and the center is also great for parties. Single-session courses will run for $24 (without membership), and you don’t have to have experience. That benefits those who have yet to practice and may be slightly nervous to climb.

Portland Rock Gym

Welcome to the community. This area is fantastic, unique, and it’s fun! The idea behind the gym is to help people learn about climbing and have fun doing it. First-timers can have a first ascent experience and offer classes so you can be safe. They also offer day passes and rental gear. The youth programs offer climbing teams and an introductory club, and each option is meant for beginners to advanced climbers from ages nine to seventeen.

Parties are an hour and a half for twelve people. Be sure to check the site for available time slots and book in advance. For the indoor camps, look at each option they offer and fill out the application form accordingly. Remember that they are available for any age. The break camps cost $127 a day for ages 9-14. The club is what most people start with, and it’s a four-week commitment. It will offer six hours of instruction.

Giving Your Child Strength

Rock climbing is a great skill for kids, and it can offer them confidence and strength that they can use for the rest of their lives. It’s also an excellent way for them to make friends and feel accomplished as they grow. The best part is that these gyms have programs for adults so that you can learn right along with them. Have fun reaching new heights together!
